" Believing that God powers strange coincidences and the journey that lies ahead."

The Summer Wind.

Today was a perfect day. One thing I miss about living in California is the hot summer days of Chicago.

My dad turned 89 over the weekend but oh boy, does he still love the heat.

Today was no exception. He wanted to sit directly in the sun but I guess my blood has thinned. I asked him if we could drag the chairs and sit in the shade under the Maple tree.

As the wind blew through the Maple leaves, I decided to play some of my dad’s favorite music.

We both got loss in the moment singing along to Summer Wind by Frank Sinatra.

Dad & I singing Summer Wind

We played a few more Sinatra’s songs, singing what lyrics we remembered.
The music stopped but the wind continued to blow, cooling us off.

I took the moment to study my father; his full head of white hair, his wrinkled face, and his hands that are weathered from a life, well-lived.

I glanced away and thought,I leave tomorrow for California.

I will miss today and yes, the Summer Wind.

Hello! Thanks for stopping by. I have been single for the last twenty years raising my two beautiful children, Jake ( 26)and Tarah (25). I am a originally from Chicago but by listening to “The Whisper Within” I have recently moved to Southern California. I love to run, hike, bike, swim, and practice core yoga but have been sick for the last few years fighting Lyme disease. GOD will heal me but in the meantime, I choose to be happy and not settle for ordinary. I believe in the Fairytale, crave the butterflies, and surrender that God has the plan.
